I can't believe Lorde invented renewable energy.

Now that summer has begun, it is important to take a moment and think of who you are, who you want to be, and the disparities or alignments between the two. Summer is our chance to shape our present into the sculpture we desire. Or we could just be at peace with ourselves. That seems like the most sensible choice. Easy... Right? 

Solar Power by Lorde. 

I had my headphones in, backseat of the car. My thumb touches the play button, then moves on to slide the volume adjustor up. Passing us, trees and other cars glide. Soar. There was so much noise about this release; Lorde's comeback after 4 years. 

Starting off slow and simple, with consistent acoustic guitar strums, the vibration in my ears moved into a smile-inducing, head bopping, sun-bathed melody with a prominent groovy bass line. 

It has been a rough time for so many of us, with a pandemic striking out our hopes of fun or calm. I think Lorde making her comeback during the summer with a song that felt like bite into a sweet, juicy mango was perfectly fitting. 

My thoughts drifted though. I began to wonder how many people's favorite season is the summer. Sunny and warm. Breezy and sweet. 

Sticky and smelly and sweaty. 

Perspective matters.
