Disguised but I see right through.

Most of us were definitely in tears while watching "Dancing with the Devil," the vulnerable and honest documentary by Demi Lovato. I admire her strength and am sending her the most beautiful and positive energy. My generation grew up with her: Camp Rock, Sonny with a Chance, Princess Protection Program, and so many more mediums of connection between us. Wishing her loads of love and joy.

Met Him Last Night
by Demi Lovato and Ariana Grande.

This song packs a punch! We hear metaphors entangled with reality, channeling hardship into art.

The song starts off with a unique symphony gently transitioning into powerful harmonies and a steady beat. The runs, the high notes, the lyrics: genius! So much talent in one piece.

The lyrics touch upon struggles with addiction, using the devil as a metaphor for the constant presence of this habit:

Red or white? / You pour another, say it's fine.

Disguised, but I see right through / I seen the devil / Yeah I met him last night

Lovato's powerful, heavier tone mixes with Grande's raspier, lighter vocals. Their voices compliment each other PERFECTLY; the passion is so clear. The storytelling is out of this world and the emotion in the music is thick.

Do yourself a favor and go check this one out!

If you click on the album cover below, you can listen or re-listen to "Met Him Last Night" by Demi Lovato and Ariana Grande on YouTube. I cannot wait to listen through the entire album called "Dancing With The Devil...The Art of Starting Over" and absorb each moment of the light at the end of the tunnel.  Let me know thoughts, emotions, ideas, sparks, creations, or memories that come up while the instruments hum into your ears.

Warm regards,
Nai
