Australia or Los Angeles?
The trees sway fiercely. A rough wind passes through the air and windows, greeting all and making its presence known. A green outdoors; it is no longer winter.
Take Yourself Home by Troye Sivan
This song came to me at the early stages of quarantine (#nostalgia). Airy, peaceful, and rhythmic for majority of the piece, and then shifting gears towards the end with a more upbeat, danceable, beat-filled, club-scene-with-strobe-lights vision inducing symphony. The duality! A masterpiece.
I started seeing Troye Sivan on YouTube years back; his YouTube channel was so much fun. He is filled with charisma and joy and energy. When he ultimately transitioned into a music career, I was stoked -- excited for a young and new set of creative ideas.
From his first album to his most recent, he has not lost touch with the individuality he pursues in his music; an accomplishment, and an admirable one.
The steady beat and groovy bass embellish the light harmonies and background vocals.
Some of the chorus sings:
I'm tired of the city. Scream if you're with me... If I'm gonna waste my time, then it's time to go.
Take yourself home.
Find a purpose and a genuine value in the actions you take, and the choices you make. There can be so much noise coming from all directions, but in the end: there's no point doing something that you feel like is a waste of time or because you think/feel like you are 'supposed' to. Be where and do what makes you feel like you are happy and you are home.
Take yourself home.
If you click on the album cover below, you can listen or re-listen to "Take Yourself Home" by Troye Sivan on YouTube. Wait till the end; there's a little surprise. Let me know thoughts, emotions, ideas, sparks, creations, or memories that come up while the instruments hum into your ears.
