We'll be alright.
Fine Line by Harry Styles.
This song is quite possibly the most powerful, yet delicate song I have ever heard. Don't let the gentle harmonies and light guitar strums fool you. This humble melody packs a punch, and Harry Styles acts as the perfect medium. As emotive as the song is on an iPhone or laptop, nothing quite does it justice like a record player. A Victrola, in my case. The placidity of the rich wood contrasts the bounce of the snare drums that slowly build into a glorious trumpet epiphany. A needle-disguised Harry Styles runs along the grooves of the vinyl causing vibrations that sing, "We'll be a fine line. We'll be alright." He sounds so sure. I believe him.
One of my favorite lyrics ever, that happens to be from this title:
Put a price on emotion, looking for something to buy.
It feels almost wrong for me to explain or analyze or say anything about the sheer poetic nature of the sentence or the sentence itself, so I will leave it as a stand-alone and let you do the thinking for this one.
And this is where we part ways for the night, or day, wherever you may be. If you click on the album cover below, you can listen or re-listen to "Fine Line" by Harry Styles on YouTube. There is also a slow and reverbed version on YouTube to look for (listen at your own discretion, may result in tears) if you would like to venture into that world! Let me know thoughts, emotions, ideas, sparks, creations, or memories that come up while the instruments hum into your ears.
Honorable mention from this album by the way: To Be So Lonely.
Well, every song really.
