How about dancing under the stars?

The sun is shining brighter than usual today. The rays ricochet off of the gleaming white snow and directly into my fragile, green eyes. I squint. The crisp landscape is beautiful, though. The window in my room acts as a frame to the painting synthesized by leafless trees and mountains of frozen rain. Amber leaves are sprinkled over the driveways wherever the glistening carpets of snow have gone missing. This feels familiar. Cozy. A feeling I felt while listening to a rather colorful song. Months ago. More than a year ago, actually. Which brings me to the tune of the day.

SLOW DANCING IN THE DARK by Joji.

A echoey blend of insomnia, tears, laughter, love, pain, contemplation, and euphoria. Sparkles falling into glue; smudged marker on your finger. The layers radiate impact. The gentle pace creates a sullen atmosphere that leaves you pondering life's biggest questions. Gold star. But... the lyrics.

Give me reasons we should be complete
You should be with him, I can't compete
You looked at me like I was someone else, oh well
Can't you see? (Can't you see?)
I don't wanna slow dance (I don't want to slow dance)
In the dark
Dark
Just the chorus. My analysis of these lyrics -- in a poem, from the perspective of Joji himself:

Why should we be together? Do we fit?
I know you're asking the same questions
Thinking the same things
Magnets.

He's better for you.
So
Dance with him.
I don't want to slow dance

I want to know what this is.
What we are
There's doubt in you
I can tell.

Am I a stranger to you?
I feel like a stranger.

You're different in the light
I am different to you in the light
I mean something else to you in the light

The dynamic changes
It's hidden
But not in the dark
Only in the light

You can't use the darkness to change.
Or the light to hide

It seems that
When vision
Or the ability to see
Is naturally altered,
Affected at all
Feelings are too.

But
Sunlight
Moonlight
Both are still light

And
Maybe I do want to slow dance.
Just not in the dark

That is it for today. Comment a song that gets you reminiscing; I'm curious. If you click on the album cover below, it will take you to "SLOW DANCING IN THE DARK" by Joji on YouTube. So if you haven't heard it yet, give the harmonious hit a quick listen! Let me know thoughts, emotions, ideas, sparks, creations, or memories that come up while the instruments hum into your ears.

Looking forward to hearing all about it.

Warm regards,
Nai

P.S: "Songs everyday" does not include the weekend. Enjoy yours. Explore some melodies. I'll enjoy mine and do the same. See you on Monday, sunshine.
